3. Bell Peppers
The benefits for the skin are mainly found in green and yellow bell peppers. They are great sources of vitamin E and vitamin B6. Vitamin E helps make sure the skin looks young and refreshed. Vitamin B6 helps the skin renew cells. Here is what a study in the British Journal of Nutrition had to report:
One study in the British Journal of Nutrition found that people who ate the most green and yellow vegetables (up to 250 grams; one large pepper is about 190 grams) had fewer wrinkles, especially in the crow’s feet area, compared to those who at the least amount (69 grams a day).
I was so happy finding out these things were doing my skin well. It just makes me want to eat more of them at the moment.
Put the peppers in your salad, sandwich, pasta, and basically anything else you love to eat when you get a little hungry. I like eating them on their own because I am a lazy person. Their sweetness and crunch just make eating them more fun for me.
As for putting it on the skin, you can make a face mask by combining blended bell peppers with any other food that is good for the skin such as honey or oatmeal or yogurt. At least it will be less smelly than putting sardines on your face!
2. Pomegranates
Pomegranates have been used since the very beginning. In Greek mythology, it is even the fruit of Persephone, the wife of Hades who is the Greek God of the underworld. This is because she ate the seeds of the fruit, which bound her to her promise to Hades to stay in the underworld for two-thirds of every year. This fruit is a blessing and a sin! Dr. Perricone mentions why the fruit is doing wonders for your skin:
They’re packed with polyphenol antioxidants … Polyphenols fight free radicals and regulate skin’s blood flow, giving it rosiness.
No wonder it has been used in so many beauty products. It can be our guilty pleasure fruit for beauty and health from now on, don’t you agree?
Adding pomegranates to your meal plans is pretty easy. You can just take the seeds and eat them by themselves or put it in your salad for extra sweetness. You can top it on ice cream, too. If you’re not into doing that, you can always buy yourself a bottle of pomegranate juice in the supermarket.
You can blend the pomegranate seeds and mix it with olive or coconut oil to use as a scrub that exfoliates your skin. Instead of using olive oil or coconut oil, you can use honey. You just have to apply to your skin for a minutes and wash off with warm water.
1. Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds are full of Vitamin E. In order to look as glowing and beautiful as a sunflower, it’s probably best to get your hands on a bag of these seeds as soon as possible! A study in Experimental Dermatology even shows the extent of the seeds’ benefits by saying:
Researchers found that those suffering from severe acne had nearly 30% lower blood levels of vitamin E compared to a clear-skinned control group.
So, in order to make sure your blood is helping your skin stay pimple-free, I guess you should run over to your nearest supermarket now. You blossom like a radiant sunflower if you do so.
This is another food you can place on your salads or put in your oatmeal. You can use it next to want to make homemade granola bars. Eat it alone as a snack, as well. You can also buy sunflower oil that can be used for cooking veggies, eggs, and other favorite foods.
Eating all of these foods are great for your body. Just remember that too much of something is definitely not a good thing. The effects will come over time, not immediately. Good things always come to those who wait!
